Makan Sifu is a free editorial guide to Penang food. It is one Sifu’s
opinion about where the real version of a dish is being cooked, supported
by what locals say in public. It is not professional advice, restaurant
certification, or food safety inspection.
Information may be wrong
Stalls close. Hours change. Halal status changes. Prices change. Cooks
retire. We update the list constantly, but parts of it will always be out
of date at any given moment. Always verify before you go when something matters: ring the stall, check a recent post, or arrive
early enough to walk away.
Halal information
Halal flags on Makan Sifu are best-effort signals based on declared
certification, ownership context, and public information. They are not a
substitute for JAKIM-verified certification at the venue. If halal
compliance is non-negotiable for you, confirm at the stall.

respective creators where attributed. Quotes from food bloggers and
critics are short excerpts used as fair comment with a link back to the
