One of our famous Penang Street food is also Mee Goreng. Of course there is this Famous Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng now have move to a new location right after 50 years of operating in the kopitiam at Bangkok Lane.

So it’s Part 2 of our Penang Trip and here’s a place that was pretty much the one place that Mum was saying was a ‘Must-go’ makan place. She’d seen on TV a few times and definitely looked like something we’d all enjoy.

Penang-ites rave about Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng to me all the time. It is so popular that people flock this stall at Seng Lee Coffee Shop for their dose of this mee goreng. Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng is manned by a father and son team, and has been around for more than 80 years.

Maboo operates from a stall at the Seng Lee Coffee shop situated at the junction of Burma Road and Bangkok Lane. That's why they call themselves "Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng". Pricing is slightly on the high side, (about 10% more than most) as can be seen on the price list above.

Still good after 20years. Never failed me yet. My must go to place every time I am in Penang. The noodles were perfectly cooked and soaked up all the rich, flavorful sotong sauce.

First time trying this famous mee goreng but I was underwhelmed. Mee was a bit soggy and taste was 6/10. I've had better mee goreng elsewhere.

A bit pricey since it’s a tourist food court, but the portions make it worth it. It gets really crowded during lunch hours.
