My first Banana Leaf meal with a difference was at Passions of Kerala Restaurant in Brown Garden, Gelugor. The outlet was full of people from the factories and around the Gelugor area. Here, I discovered the tempting taste of spices at Passions of Kerala Restaurant.

I had lunch here yesterday. Banana leaf rice was superb - pumpkin was tasty, radish was well-cooked and taught taukua was stir-fried Chinese style. The crab curry was flavourful with thick gravy power-packed with aromatic spices.

The very last time I went here was someone farewell, we sit on second floor, that’s almost 1.5decades back. Revisiting the shop recently, I see it is still doing great with its service and food.

Been coming here since it was called Inira's from my university days 35 years ago. They've since expanded from one shoplot to three lots, a testament to their popularity. Never fail to come back for each of our Penang holidays.
