One of my favourite Nyonya restaurants to savour authentic Nyonya dishes in Penang is Nyonya Breeze Desire. Rosie Yew, who I fondly call Aunty Rosie, is a brilliant cook. Her cooking technique and balance of flavours are masterful.

For the Nyonya food aficionados out there, Nyonya Breeze Desire Straits Quay is a must visit for me & family whenever we drop by Penang. Can’t say all their dishes are 10/10 but definitely more hits than miss and quite a few hard to find…

Penang is synonymous with Nyonya cuisine and many locals would have Chinese Peranakan parentage. Peranakan fare was mostly prepared at home and enjoyed among family. And this was the feeling you get when dining at Nyona Breeze Desire .

We came here as part of a large group that gathered in Penang for a regional retreat, and it felt like we were treated like family to a Nonya feast.

Update 28 Dec 2025: Still as good as ever. Gets pretty crowded during peak lunch or dinner. Reservations recommended. _______________________ Very good nyonya food. Authentic and flavourful. We always return here.

Nyonya Breeze Desire at Straits Quay offers generally good Nyonya fare, though not the type where flavours immediately hit the roof. The Kapitan chicken stands out with its rich, robust gravy, while the braised pork (hong bak) has an…

My favorite Nyonya restaurant whenever I am in Penang. The authentic Nyonya dishes served here are always consistently good and delicious. Non pretentious space but the emphasis is on the food.

Nothing to sugarcoat.. imo this is the best nyonya food restaurant I have been in.. in terms of overall taste and quality vs the price. All the dishes are yummy and consistent every single time. Ambience definitely needs work.

I have visited Nyonya Breeze several times and find it to be an excellent venue for exploring Nyonya cuisine in Penang. A major advantage is their portion sizing; by opting for smaller servings, diners have the opportunity to sample a…

I've eaten here several times, and it still tastes the most authentic Nyonya food in Penang. I've eaten at highly rated restaurants after being tempted by food blogger reviews on Instagram, but the taste wasn't as amazing as I imagined.
