My real intent of visiting Ayer Itam is for Ah Chui. Seafood is high on the agenda and fact is, they only do seafood. Don't expect pork, beef or chicken at this humble outlet.

I visited this place 10 years ago with local friends. Recently, I returned to Penang and wanted to revisit. The restaurant was clean and tidy, with a comfortable dining environment. The owner also recommended dishes.

Visit more than 3 times. My singapore friends very love the seafood here. Few things that singapore dont have. Bosses know us. Sometime we want that things will call a day before reservations.

Arrived around 8 PM, and there were seats available. Business was good. Ordered the signature stir-fried snails, which were delicious. The savory prawns were also good.

Delicious seafood and comfort food in classic zhu-char style. It was packed on Mother’s Day—we waited about an hour, and some dishes arrived a little late. Despite the delay, everything was flavourful and satisfying.

A humble family restaurant, I would imagine not many tourist would know or come of not referred by locals. It’s short drive from famous Kek Lok Si area, food quality is fair and reasonably priced.
