The first stop for the day was at the famed Ah Leng Char Koay Teow. This famous stall is located in Kafe Khoon Hiang, with its frontage facing Dato Kramat road and its side to Dunlop Road.

Another famous char koay teow in Penang nestled in Air Itam, expect at least half an hour wait for their char koay teow. While Ah Leng’s noodle might be a little wetter than the regular CKT, their prawns are huge.

What makes Ah Leng's char koay teow really special and loved by both locals and foreigners alike? To begin with, it has to be the star attraction on the plate – the succulent jumbo-size prawns.

Ah Leng doesn’t hold back. His Char Koay Teow comes piled with giant prawns, crispy pork lard, and a rich, smoky finish that hits hard in the best way. It’s messy, indulgent, and completely worth the calories.

Ah Leng Char Koay Teow will top my list if we were to talk on the ingredients brimmed into this simple dish. The premium big prawns served on the CKT would be shocking if you are first timers or never heard of Ah Leng Char Koay Teow before.

The result was RM 11.00 lighter on my wallet, but in return I had a plate of absolutely gorgeous char kuih teow that has four really huge prawns, duck egg, bean sprouts, chives, kuih teow, and another ingredient that’s pretty unique to Ah…

This version of Ah Leng Char Koey Teow is slightly different from others where it is slightly moist from their own soup stock that they add in as per compare to the usual CKT version, it is fried to dry with wok hei.

Currently my favourite char kuay teow place in Penang, Ah Leng makes a mean plate of this Penang delight. You can opt to have a normal plate of char kuay teow for RM6, or the special char kuay teow which comes with mantis prawns for RM10.

Occupying a weathered corner lot, this Chinese coffee shop painted all white doesn't house many hawker stalls, but is home to a particularly good one, which is fine by us, because as the saying goes, 'quality over quantity'.

Ah Leng Char Koay Teow was recommended to us by a Grab driver who picked us up from Penang Hill. The stall is special in that it offers up the option to have duck or chicken eggs in your char kway teow.

Early morning the next day, breakfast at Toh Soon coffee stall along Campbell Street was the perfect way to have a cup of local coffee, charcoal toasted bread and half boiled eggs.

Honest review, this place char koay teow is just so so, more like a char koay teow my mom cook at home. No fragrant smell of lard. No unique flavour. Abit dry. Prawn ok. Cockle dried up. No lap chiong.

The CKT here is very good ... but no longer excellent. After my most recent trip, it has fallen off my Penang Top Five CKT list. If you do give it a try (and you should), i reccomend getting the Special, add Duck Egg.

Tried 10 CKT around Penang. This is one of the more popular ones. Prawns are fine, nothing more. Chilli is the choking kind, making it hard to taste anything else. Taugeh is slim and limp.

This CKT is quite satisfactory, and I would consider it to be above average compared to many others available on the island. However, I would not be inclined to wait over 30 minutes for it again.

the second visit from a Johorean within a month, I think this can prove that how good it is. probably the best char koay teow I’ve ever had, even those CKT in the famous food court but I still prefer Ah Leng!

Waited 2h which average 1 plate of CKT tooks around 6min. CKT taste average, prawn is fresh but the mantis prawn disappointing as too salty.

I love this brand of CKT. Only bummer is the waiting time. Probably due to long raya weekend.
