Chong Charcoal Seafood Char Koay Teow (located at the famous New Lane Street Foodstalls) is highly regarded by tourists and locals alike for its distinct, traditional cooking method and generous portions. At RM15.

The Char Koay Teow here is amazing. Tried it at other locations and it is good here in Penang but there’s something special about this location. Flavours on point. Ate here twice.

This Char Koay Teow stall is located right at the beginning of the street and is super easy to find-just look for the long queue and you're there! I had to wait in line for almost 30 minutes just to get my food.

Can’t be in Penang without having Penang ckt. And we went for the best of the best imo. One of the rare stalls fried plate by plate still using charcoal fire.

CHONG Charcoal Seafood Char Koay Teow at New Lane (Lorong Baru) is a full-on Penang street-food experience built around one thing: a smoky, seafood-laden plate of char koay teow fried over real charcoal.

The Experience: Waiting Time: Around 40 minutes. The uncle fries every plate live using real charcoal, which is a rare sight. Taste: The "Wok Hey" is definitely strong and the noodles are served piping hot.

Went twice to this famous and delicious char kway teow stall. Ordered the (seafood) large order duck egg spicy dish each time. Paid 15 RM, as should be.

Easily one of the best plates of Char Koay Teow I had during my trip to George Town! The wok hei is spot on, and the noodles have a perfectly chewy texture. It tastes incredible paired with the duck egg and pork sausage.

After queuing for over half an hour, I ended up having the most disappointing plate of fried kway teow of my life. Seeing it was a long-established Penang restaurant with a 40-year history, I was super excited.

I came with high expectations, but the experience fell short of them. This is a roadside stall, and the waiting area smelled strongly of drains and cooking oil. I had to stand and queue for about 30 minutes to get my food.

Tried many times already, This is the Famous charcoal char koay teow in Georgetown, Penang. For me, 3 years ago tasted more delicious than now. Do not expect a nice service especially from the uncle😝for the taste now is just okay, I don’t…

Drizzling rain - close to last order. Still one of the better fried charcoal CKT in the city. Good wokhei, duck eggs and not too oily. Perfect with an ice cold Tiger.
