Ah Shen Presgrave St Famous Duck Egg Char Koay Teow may well be the best that you can find in Penang at night ! For ~RM7 , it makes for an affordable and delicious meal with succulent prawns, duck egg, cockles , spicy sambal, and even char…

I don’t understand why there are so many bad reviews on Google Maps😭. I did quite a bit of research on Xiaohongshu and chose this stall as my first stop on my Penang trip and it did not disappoint.

Tried at least 5 char kuey teow stalls in Penang, this is considered the nice ones. RM15 for one portion is quite reasonable because other stalls are selling this price. It’s justifiable because they have 3 huge prawns.

As a local, I was surprised to see no long queue when I passed by, so I decided to give it a try and see what gave me the confidence to charge such a price. I chose the RM20 option, and my conclusion about the taste was: very average.

Their char kuey teow is really quite expensive, the special version costs RM20, and even the regular one is RM15. Compared to kopitiam prices of around RM6.50, it’s almost twice as expensive.

The WORST Char koay teow in Penang. Many tiktok and online videos and reviews show this place but it’s so bad. 1. Expensive. 15rm for small and 20rm for big. Almost DOUBLE of any other Char koay teow stalls in Penang.

⭐️ 2/5 Tried the charcoal-fried duck egg char kway teow, and honestly… very underwhelming. There’s no wok hei, and surprisingly no duck egg aroma at all — which is the whole point of ordering this version.

I originally wanted to go to the fried kway teow place on San Tiao Road, but I misread the address and went to the wrong one, which is in Ya Sheng on San Tiao Road nearby.

Must-try the authentic Penang Char Kuey Teow! 😋 We ordered two plates - one normal, one veggie. Both were spot on! Super tasty, generous servings with fresh prawns. Prices were RM15, RM20, RM40. Definitely worth it!

From the perspective of Penang Lang, this is probably the first and last time I've ever tried this fried kway teow. Kway Teow lacked the wok hei. Although the queue was long, most of the people were tourists. Not recommend for "Penang Lang”

Mouth-watering plate of duck eggs char kway teow with a distinct smoky flavour. Prawns were crisp and sizeable. Be prepared to wait for your turn as the queue can get rather long. Dining area was clean.

This char kuey teow here is definitely the most hyped and also the priciest in town. Taste-wise, it’s good but whether it’s worth the hype and price is up to you!
