Da Shu Xia Seafood House, also known as 海乾大树下海鲜饭店, has an intriguing history. It had humble beginnings as a chu char restaurant located beneath a large, shady tree at Weld Quay.

However, in today's reality, Da Shu Xia Seafood House would be a close second. The restaurant has a long history, starting its operations next to the overhead bridge at Weld Quay, across from the ferry terminal.

If you are the frequent visitor of the Weld Quay Restaurant at Tree Shade then you should know they have moved to this new place at Lebuh Victoria. Which I think is better as they also have their own car park just a few minutes walk away.

Latest review : Since it is now s hotspot for tourists to dine, they're able to make big deals from them as they order premium dishes & order alot. I'm a local & it's just 2 of us so we just order basic stuff. 3 dishes enough to eat.

A message to fellow Chinese: I sincerely do not recommend eating here. Simply put, it's a rip-off! Don't listen to travel bloggers' recommendations! First, the price: two mantis shrimps and one crab cost RM248.

Food was quite delicious and portion quite big. Prices are not cheap though for Penang standard. Go early or make reservations especially during weekends. There's car parking nearby but can be a challenge as it's always full.
