Since 3 out of our party of 7 are Muslims, we chose to have lunch in a halal Malay restaurant: Kafe Budak Boss, perhaps the best-known Muslim eatery near the old town centre.

Even though the shop doesn't have a signboard, the food is delicious. The price is still cheap compared to other shops. I just recommend writing down the order on paper because when paying, customers have to be honest about what they are…

Great neighborhood place to hang out with. They have good satays, good char kuey teow calm ambient (if you sit at the road side at night). Sizzling & fried rice are acceptable. Steaks are just alright. Drinks are well served.
