My 1st time here as a Penangite. It's an old-school eatery serving Cantonese dishes. They still served dim sum by pushing the steam cart. Ordered their dry fried hor fun. The wok hei is strong & it's flavourful.

A very popular restaurant and expect to Q during peak hours. It is Michelin recommended restaurant and it lives up to the standard. Service is acceptable good and it is no frill restaurant. Foods are served fast.

This is the best restaurant in Penang in my humble opinion. Authentic Cantonese cuisine and honest local fare. Environment is soothing, cooling and bright. I come back every time I visit Penang 🥹.

Penang has a competitive food scene. Good restaurants are aplenty and diners are spoilt with choices. Tho Yuen, when compared to other dim sum restaurants, pale significantly in comparison.

Travel Cafe Eat Drink - Malaysia & Asia Nice local eatery where many regulars eat here. Came by earlier to see a lot of seating available cos the other day was pretty crowded when I intend to eat here.

Went there early to try out their Hoongthoo Mee. Quite a generous serving for the small bowl, and which was good enough for two persons. Reasonably priced at RM 14.00 per bowl.

Fried rice with strong wok hey smell. Rice slightly harder. Fried rice noodle with vermicelli also comes with wok hey smell but taste abit bland. I like Soggy starch with crispy noodle.

The stir-fried noodles were delicious, very fragrant, and had plenty of ingredients, all for only RM13 a plate. The dim sum was average, rather light, unlike what we usually get.

I’m a fan of crispy noodles and they have one of the best king prawn crispy noodles I’ve tried, food was so good I even forgot to take the photo ☺️ tried 3 dishes in total!

I passed by this restaurant in Chinatown and it looked so inviting that I decided to go in. It seemed to be a dim sum place in the morning, and since they didn't have beer, I ordered pu-erh tea.

The newly renovated dining environment is very comfortable and not hot at all. The stir-fried rice noodles with two flavors are delicious, as are the Hongtu noodles.
