Gou Lou Hong Kee Chao Sar Hor Fun & Noodles—quite a mouthful for a name, but an even bigger mouthful of wok hei goodness! Tucked along historic Campbell Street, this old-school Cantonese-style eatery is a hidden gem in George Town.

I was a little torn between the gravy version and the dry version, but today I had the dry Char Hor Fun. The noodles and ingredients were well stir-fried, giving the dish a wonderful wok aroma and heat that made it very delicious.

The proper Cantonese taste!! Tried to char hor fun and asked them to remove the beehoon. This way I feel they were able to fry up the hor fun longer so it turns out more wwok hei. Appreciate that the gravy wasn't too watery.

I went to eat stir-fried rice noodles at 5:30 pm today. It looked just like stir-fried kuey teow and wasn't very good. There was also some vermicelli in the stir-fried rice noodles, which was very strange.

I tried the black stir-fried noodles pictured, as recommended by the staff, and they were truly delicious. Surprisingly, the flavor wasn't too strong; it was a mild yet flavorful taste with depth.

Wokhey explosion, was there right after I got off the plane. Was amazed by the flavor, and after trying 8-10 places in Penang over three days, we came back to this place for one last meal before we catch the flight back home.
