Weng Kei Wantan Mee (GPS: 5.415, 100.33473) is a coffee shop selling wan than mee in George Town, Penang . It is located on Carnarvon Street , at the junction with Carnarvon Lane . The taste is very good.

Though the business has been running for a while, Weng Kei (荣记烧腊) does not seem to manage to steal the limelight, the place is overshadowed by its neighbor- Gou Lou Wan Ton Mee (高佬云吞面).

The Char Siew here at Weng Kei Wantan Mee is probably the best of all the WTM stalls I tried. Best of all the noodles are made in house, with only duck eggs. Yum.

Siuyuk had the perfect crispy skin, but wasn’t seasoned at all. The burnt ends on the chasiu had a crunch and flavour which reminds me of the onion crunchies in Mee Sedap. However, the texture and flavour are otherwise plain.

I come to Penang every year just for the char siu rice (I ate it for a week!), and many people like the noodles. The business is booming, and personally, I think it tastes even better than in Hong Kong. It's closed every Monday.

The noodles were overcooked, so they lacked a bit of chewiness, so I didn't find them quite right for me, but the BBQ pork and roasted pork toppings were delicious. The Kopi O still needs improvement as it lacked any coffee aroma.

Here at 7.30am and was served immediately. The wantan noodles were bouncy and delicious, the charsiu was one of the best I've had, and the duck was super flavourful! The white coffee was so good too!
