It is Saturday, almost 9:30 a.m., and Restoran Zim Sum is full of families eating breakfast. Penang resident Awee tells me this restaurant is always crowded thanks to its location on George Town’s main artery, Macalister Road.

Restoran Zim Sum has moved from Anson Road to Macalister Road for a while before we make a visit to it there. We enjoyed our meal at Restoran Zim Sum very much, so much so that we returned to it a few days later.

This place was absolutely awful… the service was terrible! There wasn't even a single person to sit down? The staff just gave out table numbers and we had to find our own tables? Did they think we knew how to queue?

The food tastes good on average....the chrysanthemum tea is delicious...it tastes like fresh flowers. I like the fried radish, it's delicious...then the system is to choose the food, then count how many there are, then finally just pay.

Dining @ Restoran Zim Sum. . The Har Gow / Shrimp Dumplings (MYR RM8.50) have a medium-thick wheat starch and tapioca starch dumpling skin, with juicy crunchy diced deshelled shrimp / prawns within.

The reception insist us to take number for the table and do not allow to change seat even there are plenty of empty seat that time. Dim sum not so delicious also. Don't think will be coming back again.

This is the place to start the day, has many dim sum options with reasonable prices. If arrived early, no need to wait for the table, but if you come late, you need to wait for table arrangements.

It turns out that besides Fu Er Dai, there's another one not too far from Makalister. The advantages of this place are: - neater - cleaner - more varied sauce choices - food like siomay is actually still better at that one.

Wanna quick and fast meal before heading to the airport, 6 min away from hotel Jen, straight walk from hotel Jen right. Mass production food, plenty and wide seating. Selected items are nice.

The food was good, but some items were a bit pricey. It was very crowded, so you need to arrive early. The service was good, but they were sometimes overwhelmed with customers.

The drink tasted very sweet. No ice was served together with the drink. Request a cup of ice. It charged RM0.60. 🤣
