    Many of us grew up knowing Tho Yuen, a stalwart in Penang’s Chinatown. If you are a new visitor to George Town, you might pass the 90-year-old restaurant without noticing.

    My 1st time here as a Penangite. It's an old-school eatery serving Cantonese dishes. They still served dim sum by pushing the steam cart. Ordered their dry fried hor fun. The wok hei is strong & it's flavourful.

    DIM SUM in George Town, Penang 🇲🇾 The best Cantonese dim sum and noodle restaurant in George Town is @thoyuen 📍92 Campbell Street It was our first time trying dim sum, and we didn't even know what it was.

    A very popular restaurant and expect to Q during peak hours. It is Michelin recommended restaurant and it lives up to the standard. Service is acceptable good and it is no frill restaurant. Foods are served fast.

    This is the best restaurant in Penang in my humble opinion. Authentic Cantonese cuisine and honest local fare. Environment is soothing, cooling and bright. I come back every time I visit Penang 🥹.

    Penang has a competitive food scene. Good restaurants are aplenty and diners are spoilt with choices. Tho Yuen, when compared to other dim sum restaurants, pale significantly in comparison.

    Went there early to try out their Hoongthoo Mee. Quite a generous serving for the small bowl, and which was good enough for two persons. Reasonably priced at RM 14.00 per bowl.

    I’m a fan of crispy noodles and they have one of the best king prawn crispy noodles I’ve tried, food was so good I even forgot to take the photo ☺️ tried 3 dishes in total!

    After the renovation, Hong Tu Noodles seems saltier. The dim sum tastes like Penang. Even the egg tarts, which are disliked by foreigners, really don't have much sweet egg flavor.

    I passed by this restaurant in Chinatown and it looked so inviting that I decided to go in. It seemed to be a dim sum place in the morning, and since they didn't have beer, I ordered pu-erh tea.

    The newly renovated dining environment is very comfortable and not hot at all. The stir-fried rice noodles with two flavors are delicious, as are the Hongtu noodles.

    Heard of this place from my grandmother, it’s been around for ages. From what I understand it’s on their 3rd generation, kudos and I understand why. I drove past and stopped just to get two char siu baos, it was amazing…
