Many still refer to it as Seow Fong Lye or Macalister Road Chee Cheong Fun, a nod to its Burma Road origins. This humble business has been around since 1955. Possibly one of the oldest in town—and still drawing a loyal weekend crowd.

This humble pushcart has been around for 60 years or so and the rice rolls, eaten with prawn paste and chilli sauce, are a class of their own. It’s best to come early, as they often run out before noon.

I must admit that I’m not a big fan of Chee Cheong Fun (rice sheet rolls) unless, the Chee Cheong Fun is from the stall at Macalister Lane. My favourite Chee Cheong Fun stall at Macalister Lane (the small road right after Hong Leong Bank on Macalister Road) makes a mean plate…

Lee Fook Loon started a stall selling the Penang-style chee cheong fun at a corner coffee shop along Macalister Lane and Burmah Road back in 1955. He had learnt the recipe from a friend and tried his hand at making them on his own, using different recipes until he perfected the…

One of the Chee Cheong Fun stalls that I’m used to going back to is located in front of Seow Fong Lye coffee shop in Macalister Lane. Each morning, many people are seen waiting for the Chee Cheong Fun.

Great gem located 2 minutes away from my accommodation. Glad the stall was open when we reached at 11am, the texture of the chee cheong fun is like no other. So soft, and all the sauce goes very well together with the touch of sesame seeds.

Famous Chee Cheong fun. It is now RM3.20 (S), RM3.50 (M) & RM4.40 (B). Quality & taste is still very consistent during his parent's good old days.

Very very good Chee cheong fun. It’s very smooth and the sauce is just right. My favourite is the one with only the shrimp paste sauce, somewhat of a Penang speciality, love it!

Penang style Chee Cheong Fun. The Cheong Fun comes in rolled-type. The stall will unroll and steam it again like kway teow style. You can ask for all sauces or if you prefer less sweet, you can ask not to put the “hei Ko”. Order System: 1.

Chee Cheong Fun, a delicate rolled rice noodle with a sticky black sauce, Chilli sauce and fried onion sprinkled on top. It tastes as good as it sounds ! This place is another local fav in Georgetown.

Arguably the best Chee Cheong Fun in Penang. Be sure to come early, as they tend to sell out quickly. Highly recommended!

The best CCF in Penang! The CCF is soft and the prawn paste sauce is thick with strong flavour. Best of all they will unroll the CCF for you so that the CCF can be fully covered in the delicious sauce.

Go early! And you’ll get parking with ease and no queue for chee cheong fun. We also asked for the chee cheong fun to be left in its rolled form :)
