During my recent trip to Penang with my besties, we had our first lunch at Restoran 77 Famous Curry Fish Head along Gurney Drive. We were glad to have eaten there because the food was simply awesome and delicious!

Restaurant 77 has been around for three decades and nothing much has changed from their recipes. They are known for their curry fish head by locals. If you’ve not tried Chinese style curry fish head, this is the spot to be.

Restaurant 77 is located on a small stand alone shop house along Gurney Drive. It’s probably the most simple dish of the lot but I do enjoy the fish toufu squares. Here’s their famous curry fish head.

The shop isn't very big, but it's very clean and tidy, with a nice ambiance. Being on the second floor, the window seats offer a great view. The curry fish head was delicious; the curry was rich and creamy, perfect with rice.

This restoran is superb! Should rate this 5 stars!!! Highly recommended when you are in Penang. All the dishes we've tried are super good especially the salted egg tofu, tom yum fried rice, Kang kong, otak otak, clams and asam prawn!

Limited space available, best to call to reservation before dine in. We came in around 11:15am and was told 12:30pm the table we sitting was reserved, if we able to leave at 12:30pm then it's okay for us to dine in.

Not a good experience.we had 3 pax. 1. We ordered a small butter prawns(RM28) ..and the dish literally had only 4 small prawns with extra prawn heads thrown in ! 2.

The young female Waitress is rude. Impatient when taking orders. Kicked/trip on our chair several times, no Apologies. And once pulled a chair when i was standing by it, tripping my feet, looked at me but no apologies.

An unassuming establishment filled with family warmth and love. Their otak-otak was Delicious with a capital “D”, and the tom yum soup is an absolute must-try. It is so flavourful that one bowl is simply never enough.

A very simple restaurant without any frills, but with truly fantastic food. The Curry Fish Head is especially recommended – incredibly aromatic and absolutely delicious. One of those dishes you absolutely must try.

The food here is delicious. We stayed nearby and this was one of the best restaurants in the area (most of the other restaurants in Gurney are overpriced and mediocre). Recommend the curry fish head and otak otak.

The curry is good, the otak otak can be better. Kai lan portion is a bit small. But over all are still good. Just the place is a bit small to accommodate more people.
